First, he IS coming out against Trump, so clearly not scared. What these people who claim this, and the Dems as well, is they have no reason to hate on Trump except for a pack of lies. They are afraid of being exposed as sheep.
Secondly, what has happened to gay men? It used to be that you couldn't tell if someone was gay or straight by the way they talked or carried themselves. Now, the speech pattern, the way they walk, all so obviously gay! It is really making people like me, stay far away from them. Sort of a form of blackface?
It took much time for the abomination of the homosexual ideology and lifestyle to become normalized and accepted in societies (globally). It seems to have started out as you assessed and observed. In some way, I think the trans/gender-confusion movement hitched its wagon to the gay community among males, and men were groomed to believe they are the opposite sex/gender.
Likely, there is also an element of fatherlessness, abandonment, and sexual abuse in an environment where the male child has only his mother (or dominantly female influence), and so they will identify with femininity and then take it on completely. But I think the sexual revolution and primitive gay movement in the US was the necessary primer and gateway for what has become of the LGBTQA+ movement as we know it today. All it takes is a crack in the dam.
