There are some positive environmental impacts of EVs if you compare them to shit.
For centuries mankind has reallocated shit from where people live to where they don’t.
Same thing with EVs, a coal fueled power plant will never make an EV more environmental friendly, but at least it reallocates the harmful pollutants (NoX etc) from where many people live like Atlanta to where fewer people live like Juliette.
I know that this forum hates EVs, but one thing’s for sure, EVs will drastically reduce local air pollution.
Its not just sourcing of energy. If you dig how lithium batteries are made, how poor children and others are forced into labor digging the mines for lithium in poor countries, you will start to hate them too.
Don't buy anything if you care about all those aspects. Consumerism is what gotten us into the mess we are living currently. Just because we focus on one aspect wouldn't necessarily make us blind on everything else. Its a tiny post shining light especially on EVs especially the ones most people proudly drive without knowing its sourcing.
But there are differences between how EVs are produced. Elons Musks Tesla claims that 0% of their Lithium and other minerals comes from artisanal mining, other manufacturers have no such policy.
Just because there are thousands killed by oil drilling in Africa each year, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy petroleum products at all?

If you think any other industry is any better, you’re pretty naive.
Everything you buy from China is made from (Chinese/African) slave laboring.
One problem with EVs are that owners and enthusiasts come out as “holier than thou”, and I absolutely see that aspect.
But to hate on EVs and turn a blind eye to everything else produced under the exact same circumstances are absurd.
I wouldn’t be able to by anything with that logic.

100% agree.
