I've been thinking along those lines, too. It's as though when they sign the pact with the devil for earthly wealth, power, influence, etc., they think this life is just going to be one fabulous experience after another. And they assume they won't have to pay for it until after death. Well, surprise! They realize there was fine print they didn't read. They have to endure many humiliation rituals and other horrible things and are quickly put into 'required service' for the darkness that will never end.
