Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I was thinking about the comment "for they loved not their lives even unto death" and realized that of course we all love life. Life is a gift from God. The quote from John in the book of Revelation is pointing to the fact that people, who bc of fear of death, will put up with just about anything. Even taking a poisonous jab and wearing a mask when there is no scientific evidence that either of those actions work in the least. I believe that's exactly what this statement is referring to. People have been taught to be so afraid of death that they can't live life to the fullest and will ultimately bring about their own demise.
That makes sense. I hadn't examined that verse on this level, but looking at it from your 40,000 ft. view, I see it now. Matthew 16:25 says, For whosoever will save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose his life for MY sake shall find it. I feel like I have learned to lean hard on Jesus when I have lost friends and family by refusing to give into fear. I lost the old life that I once considered "normal" by refusing to live in fear. That life is gone, but in a good way.
God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind. We did not lust after the covid-fear-porn that was daily being injected into our media, and this angered those who chose to lust. We just kept on living our best life and trusting that God is in control, not covid, not fear, not vain lust of self-survival. When you lose your friends and family because you refuse to lust after the fear hype, you suddenly find your one true friend who stood by you when the others left you ... Jesus!
Absolutely right. I love my life it is great, and I am so blessed by God, however; if it should end tomorrow I have I daughter I haven’t seen since she was 3 and a father I’ve missed for 38 years. Either way I’m good. Everyday is a gift, and we should live as such.
