For the sake of argument, let's say that Trump wins 2024 and completes his mission to drain the Swamp. Who do you envision as the right person to carry on his legacy? I've been thinking about this question, but I can't seem to find a satisfactory answer:
-
Ron Desantis: A year ago he would've been the obvious answer. Now that he's the favorite for Bushite billionaire donors and anti-Trump pundits, I'm not so sure.
-
Don Jr: He's a good man and has certainly seen his fair share of hardship. However, I dislike the principle of political "dynasties" -- no offense to the guy.
-
Current GOP: I find some tolerable, like Ted Cruz, Tim Scott, or Ben Carson. But if Trump is really going after the Swamp, sooner or later these guys are going to get implicated, and they'll turn against MAGA. (If I'm wrong, I'll be pleasantly surprised.)
-
Up-and-coming GOP: I have nothing but support for people like Kari Lake, but I'm not sure she's ready for the Big Chair just yet. I'd like to see her be a governor first.
I'm sure some of you have given this consideration, and I value your opinions. What are your thoughts? Is there someone I've overlooked?
I'll defer to DJT - his VP will be the leading candidate. He knows that he MUST ensure his legacy.
Correct
And I have a feeling it will be Lake
I don't think so. He has to win - solidly - in 24 first, then he can worry about his legacy. Lake has massive appeal in the rabid Trump camp but will do absolutely nothing to expand his base. IN fact, she may contract the progress DJT has made in urban and suburban areas. She will almost assuredly not appeal to the soccer moms. Beyond that, we have no record to go on - only fiery rhetoric. She needs seasoning. And similarly, several really good options (such as Noem) will not do anything to tilt the EC more favorably. I think Youngkin is being set up to be a future choice and might be a choice to expand the base, but I don't know how much DJT will trust him.
Trump doesn't need to worry about his base - it is solid. And the power by 28 will be back to the legislature and the states as Trump restores Constitutional balance to the federal government.
If Q is being run by flag officers (I assume at least most are retired) I see several possibilities. Vallely was early talking about the threat to the country. LTG Flynn would be immensely capable but like Lake may have too much baggage for the general populace. Among non-Q types one might consider Jordan or a couple of others. And looking at state officials beyond governors, look at Robinson from NC. He needs to win his current election but would be a really stellar choice.
In the end. I trust DJT - he (and the Q team) know how to play the long game. I will follow his lead.
Good point. I'm really interested to know who he has in mind for VP this go-around.
I'm imagining Trump:Lake in 24
