Let me one-up your schizo game: "aliens" exist, and they aren't "real" in that they are what you think they are. They're demons. We have been brainwashed in to thinking they're anything other than literal hell-spawn. If I ever meet an "alien" that denies the divinity of Jesus Christ— I'm shooting first and asking questions later. Also: pretty looking anthropomorphic "aliens" are for sure evil. Biblical "aliens" (angels) are fucking terrifying. Which is also, I'm sure, part of the reason we're trained to be scared of them, through "sci-fi". A bunch of God's Angels dressed for war would make you simultaneously shit your pants and puke, at the sight of them.
