I like my high school physics teacher's explanation of it when this was coming up then. "Cell Phones use microwave radiation, microwaves are used to heat food. There's no real evidence to show negative impact on food, but they're not on living animal tissue. So does it? I don't know, but I know heat increases cancer risk. So it's probably best to keep a device that gets hot and emits heating radiation away from where it can get your body tissues hot. So Mr [blank] beyond the sterility issue of warm testicles, I'd suggest you not keep your cell phone on your lap thinking I don't notice, and girls your bra is not a handbag."
I've followed the advice. After he pointed it out I noticed how hot the side of my face would get during a long phone call. So I use speaker phone or a headset, I keep it away from me as much as possible and when getting home I normally pitch the thing onto nearby furniture unless I'm on it like right now.
Do we know for sure if cell phone radiation causes cancer? No. Do we know it causes heating? Yes. Do we know prolonged heating of soft tissue promotes cancer? Yes. So cell phones cause cancer, keep them and anything like it away from your body.
