Ok I watched your video and his mapping makes 0 sense. The first satellite he points to goes over the.big island nowhere near Maui. At the end of the video he is talking about a satellite that appears to west of the whole island chain. The rest make sense, but his claims about where the sattelites are appear to be off.
I am sure it is possible to direct the angle and focus. I think that's the case with many types of sattelites, but the dude claims the satellite is directly over these fires and that doesn't seem to be the case. Had he said in the area, I would accept that.
You’re looking at a 2D rendering of a 3D model. If the program was showing the earth with Maui directly in the center of the screen, then a satellite going overhead would appear directly above it, but if I’m over to the east of Maui, and looking at the model, it’s not going to appear to be directly over it because I’m taking a side view of the satellite versus a top down view.
