Russel Brand is a powerful voice in the Awakening now, and his transformation is remarkable, but it wouldnt surprise me in the least if these accusations from his past are true. This is exactly the type of blackmail they use to keep mostly good or newly awakened people under control.

If they are true, he needs to get ahead of this story. He needs to tell the people he is guilty, that he was under the sway of the demonic forces that he rails against and who control entertainment, politics, business and education, that he had his own awakening and transformed himself from a servant of evil to a force for good and that he is willing to pay for his past crimes. He needs to show the People how they use blackmail to control the fate of the world using himself as a case study.

This may go against ones nature to defend the self but if he doesnt the signal is lost and the entire message he has had on blast for the last couple years becomes just more noise. He will have destroyed the example of his own Awakening.

Self realization and efforts at redemption are powerful messages in themselves.
