No, the cops were off-base to be sure b/c their immediate response was to tell the dad she could be charged. That, IMO, is suspicious. They should have at least gathered the complete information about the person the father was complaining about first, and then informed him of the potential for her to be charged as well. To have "gone there" right off the bat seems breech of protocol to me. Again, a lawyer should handle this. Cops are culpable, too.
