Is being subpoenaed as a witness the same thing as turning state’s witness? The only comment I can find that he has made is he was told he will be subpoenaed.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Wood said that he had been informed he was “going to be subpoenaed as a witness,” but had no other information on the matter.
