Well, not all of it of course.... A painter colleague of mine summed up being an artist in a very refreshing way. Instead of being pretentious, understand that our role is largely to put the right attractive colors of the correct value, in the right place, on a canvas. That can apply to traditional themes or more modern ones. If discordant aggitating marks and color choices are put in art and soothe no one, the collectors of it are not seeking harmony and neither are the artists. Art collectors who buy disturbing themes are themselves mentally unhealthy... what they have on their walls reveals who they are. Think Podesta, for one.
