Okay... Let's assess the argument properly

Any Precident for something like this? Has a VP ever been demoted before to senator, apart from in the US house of cards series?
What are newsome's poling numbers like? Bit late in the game to paint a pig and call it a horse, but given the other horse died at the gate it is plausible.
Does this change anything? Meet the new boss same as the old boss. Newsome is damaged goods to my eyes, another dead man walking but this time one able to speak English rather than dementedish
Wouldn't this be an even easier target for trump to hit? "look at the cities, full of homeless and shit covered streets. They had a case of plague in tahoe and typhoid is a real risk there. Do you want the country to look like this?"

First - I don't buy this at all. There isn't time for this to play out given that a VP pick has to be approved in CONgress.

However - a VP can (and has) resign. A governor can also appoint whoever he/she wants to fill a vacant Senate seat. So if DiFi resigns or dies Newsome can certainly appoint Kamala if she resigned from VP.
