"just a taste of things to come" is overt doomerism, too. How many people really too these pronouncements by police etc seriously? Not many.

Yes, having people in authority positions says stuff like this is troubling and unpleasant, but frankly, not that many Aussies are that stupid to have taking these idiots seriously.
