Read this story, it at least explains why Yee is acting governor right now and why she's talking about interim directors: https://azcapitoltimes.com/news/2023/09/27/yee-refuses-to-recognize-hobbs-executive-deputy-directors/
From examining Hobbs' Twitter this seems to be a battle over her cabinet nominees?

Ok so this seems to be more of a bit of political wrestling than a major event.
Though I suppose as acting Governor Yee would have some rather vast powers that generally just go untapped as a general matter of conduct?
That's what it looks like to me.
So the line of succession for Arizona Governor is Secretary of State Adrian Fontes(D) Attorney General Kris Mayes(D), then followed by Treasurer Kimberly Yee(R).
So all 3 above Yee. Hobbs, Fontes, and Mayes are either out of state or in a state that precludes them from filling the role of acting Governor.
A little odd all three are proverbially “MIA” but likely not completely unusual.
Sinaloa cartel called an emergency meeting…….this is very common.
Is that normal?
Not normal but IMO not as big a deal as some folks on Twitter were making of it.
At least not on the surface.
