As a proud Tennessean, I am thrilled to see that my representative, Tim Burchett voted McCarthy out. Burchett is a plain-spoken man of principle.
Did you read Burchett's comments on the linked article? He sounds like a great man, and said McC basically mocked him for his faith (???). Appalling.
SIDENOTE: Tennessee is one of my favorite states. I visited and/or travelled thru a lot back in the 90s and early 2000s. Knoxville was one of my favorite spots. Also hit Memphis purely for Graceland. Food and hospitality was amazing everywhere we went! I was in my 20s back then and made some good memories in TN. Also, the most terrified I've ever been behind the wheel was driving thru the smokies when they were "uber smoky"
Yes, I read Tim's comments. I was raised in these mountains of east Tennessee, so driving cloudy, foggy, curvy roads is in my DNA. We're a red state and we're open for business. i consider east Tennessee to be God's country, but I just MAY be biased.
You're fortunate to have Burchett. He sounds like a great rep. I'm in AZ and proud to have 2 reps on this list.
And yes, thats exactly what I remember about those many drives. Very dense fog, often rainy or misting, and bc visibility was so low, I could never tell when one of those curves was coming. My driving skills were tested for sure, and I def had "out-of-towner" written all over me. Agree w/ the rest of your comments about E Tenn. Enjoyed every moment I spent there and the people were wonderful.
