Agreed. It may be a redux of when McCarthy became Speaker. There's no one in the GOP House of representatives that have the overwhelming support and momentum. It will be as you say, "a bunch of failed votes". Through incessant rounds of failure, representatives may look to nominate names outside of the House of representatives. This is where Trump comes in..... However, consider the RINO/ Never-Trump faction in the House. I expect them not to budge. The stakes for them are too high. This is where a 'compromise' must be made and this individual will be most likely well known and generally respected by both RINOs and MAGA alike. Who is this individual? This is where Kash Patel provides the clue. Albeit, Kash's poll did not include Trump, but Devin Nunes got by far the highest percentage of votes. If Nunes was nominated and became SOTH, this would provide the pathway for Trump's return as POTUS.

Maybe Devin Nunes is too obvious of a Trump acolyte. I don't know.... In fact, Kash Patel didn't really voice his support for Devin Nunes, but instead listed him as a choice in his poll. Besides Donald Trump, who he doesn't believe has a chance, Kash Patel supports Lee Zeldin, who is already in congress. Interesting choice. I don't know enough about Lee Zeldin to react one way or the other.
