I was lined up for an MRI scan and I was OK with it until I found out about gadolinium. None of the medical people warned me about anything - I had to search the internet for myself to discover that there could be bad side-effects.
The EMA European Medicines Agency has for years banned certain brands of this dye and only recently allowed a subset to be used. Even so they still acknowledge that there can be dangerous consequences.
