Sure but opening up the gates and letting Muslims slaughter civilians is not the answer. Israel's government if it were sane would have stopped expanding settlements and dropped all racist laws around marriage etc. That would give them some moral high ground to stand on. It's a lot easier to justify defending land that's been settled for decades than newly taken territory. The simple fact is they don't have much land at all and nobody would have much of a case to be so hostile to them if they didn't keep stealing/taking more, depending on your perspective.
