Odd, tho. If I'm a reputable news agency - I'm going to be cautious on stories like this as well.
Don't forget, a Kuwaiti living here in America testified before Congress and the Media that Iraqi's were killing babies in incubators in Kuwait. It of course turned out to be made up as part of the lobbying effort to get Congress and the American Public behind the invasion of Iraq.
They seem to think because there's no video of Hamas cutting the heads off 40 babies that all the other murders rapes and tortures on film and off are somehow rendered unimportant. I watched of video of Hamas shooting injured children to death point blank just last night. It was in a 4chan thread, possibly this one
Dating videos and ensuring that they are really from the event occurring right now is also important. From what I have heard, there are already some videos going around that are from older incidents.
I think exercising caution is a prudent route to take. Because obviously it is completely natural to have an emotional reaction if true. But if the story is being used to simply manipulate, that is just as bad because you encourage violence over a falsehood. And people still die.

The fog of war is very thick right now.
