Pertinent: the latest tactic of the left is to use the "popular vote" to enshrine abortion in our state Constitutions. [See OH Issue 1]. Should we also enshrine in our state Constitutions the very long-time obsolete power of the father to dispose of his child?? WHY NOT?? Isn't the father equal parent of the child?
No such constraints are now to attach to a woman who alone has the legal power to kill her own child. More wantonly than any Roman man, can she dispose of the child of her and its father. The father has no say. Maybe women who abort should be ostracized as were those fathers back in Rome.
Has civilization progressed? from when a man could kill his own child, with great shame, to NOW when a woman's right to kill her own child is supposed to be enshrined as a Constitutional right?? To be encouraged? To be congratulated? To be celebrated? Well that is where the left would have us be now. The left are now the barbarians. They exceed the power granted for death, far beyond what the Romans allowed, even before Christ. SHEEH! What power do these women want? Over life and death? is there no limit?
Very good post ArmyLady...I had no idea that fathers had such control over their children in ancient Rome...society has been so sick for a very long time...I find it interesting that John Potesta's last name is so similar to Potestas...
Your analogy of the Patria Potestas being similar to women having the power of life or death over their unborn children is quite apropos...thank you for posting...
I remembered that Roman fathers had power, but it was constrained. Women now claim MORE power than the old, barbaric "patriarchy" ever claimed, over the life and death of children. People need to know this . . . thanks so much for your response.
