I just started working at a small hardware store just outside of Birmingham Alabama. There are no safety or contingency plans in place for what to do if we have a violent attack, et cetera.
I AM carrying, even though it's against the rules. Of course. I will not tell anybody.
There are no code words or radio codes for those of us working at the front, such as an alert for incoming threats, to take cover, etc.
I don't want to reinvent the wheel, and I am sure someone here has already invented what I'm talking about?
Any input as to how to even approach management and a copy of a handout or template would be great.
Just know that even if you save lives inside this business, employees or customers. You will get fired for your actions for doing so. This is done for liability purposes so the ‘victim’ as the media will call it, will sue you not the business.
Standard business protocol, comply with gunman’s demands, don’t escalate. Cowards approach basically.
Best of luck and make sure if you’re packing you practice. Shooting in a hectic scenario is difficult and if your aim isn’t great, would advise against it especially in public.
