I was completely shocked by 2 things about the Jack Ryan series. One, I liked it enough to binge-watch it. And two, that show makes it seem that in view of the evils in the world, the clandestine roll of the CIA is necessary. The problem is that alphabet agencies are perps themselves so they are continuously defending their own covert agendas. Can't the agencies give up criminal activities? They are far far away from being willing.
