It's the stories like these that have contributed to my decision to start a business and leave law enforcement/corrections for good. I've worked for two different agencies (county jails) as a Corrections Deputy and Detention Deputy (currently) and have had enough. I was fortunate enough to work the location (maximum security housing...even though he had a minimum custody charge) where Jeremy Brown was housed and had many conversations with him. For someone who has been in the field for 10 years, it makes no common or legal sense to send someone to prison for a misdemeanor charge of any kind. Misdemeanors usually end with a fine or up to a year in JAIL (NOT PRISON)..emphasis added....and that's the norm for individuals with rap sheets a mile long.....not first time offenders. What happened to this man and many others to include Jeremy Brown simply doesn't happen. It doesn't make any sense and proves without a shadow of a doubt that our system is corrupt. The sad part is that there is a lot more shenanigans that help solidify my decision to leave but I digress. As we've all experienced here, once you wake up to how the world operates, you can't go back...or my personal favorite: once you take her out, there's no possible way to put Pandora back into the box.
