House members cast a second round of ballots for Speaker on Wednesday, but House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) fared no better, in fact losing support from the first vote on Tuesday.
The final Speaker vote was 199 for Jordan, 212 for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and 22 for someone else.
But speaking after the vote, Jordan was undeterred in his work to reach 217 votes and flip holdouts. “We picked up some today, a couple dropped off, but they voted for me before. I think they can come back again. So we’ll keep talking to members. Keep working on it,” he said.
It is unclear if there will be another vote on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the push to expand the power of McHenry is heating up as the fractured GOP conference struggles to see a way forward.

Screw it. Let's put Jeffries in charge and see just how bad it can really get. You want more people to finally wake up so we can get the final act going? Let's put Mr "I'm afraid if we put more troops in Guam it'll tip over and sink" in charge of the HoRs in [DC].
I can think of no better way to wake The People up quickly than to do this. The Uniparty has spoken anyway. There's enough of [them] there that [they] won't allow a Rep like Jordan, or Gaetz, or anyone else but one of [their] own be voted in as Speaker anyway. The problem is there's still too many people fully asleep or half asleep to do anything meaningful about it yet.
So, let's get it started ..ha!!
Edit: An added benefit is that [they] would need Rs to vote him in, so this would further expose and flush out any snakes we may have not already identified.
This is quite accurate if you sound out the acronym! 😄
'Screw it - put Jeffries in charge and see how bad it can really get?' My friend it would get REALLY bad, not to think of the depression and anxiety that will result to all of us faithful observers Believing, Waiting, Hoping everything is in control and the movie is coming to a conclusion.
