Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
This week’s “everything’s f****ed” topic is school. Rant time!
Bullies seem to be protected by zero tolerance policies.
No child left behind really means no child getting ahead. Yay equity! A disproportionate share of resources are used by the lowest performing students. They want obedient worker drones, not free thinkers. Have you heard anything about your schools gifted program?
Homework teaches us not to have boundaries. Answering emails in the evening? That’s homework for grownups and likely to be unpaid additional work. It’s a waste of time too.
Sending a kid to school also gives the government control over what food goes into their body. School lunches are regulated by the USDA with industry input. Seems like all the milk is 1%. Obviously not grass fed A2 casein milk. Bringing your own lunch might be prohibited or result in social pressure. https://communities.win/c/TheDonald/p/17r9RpxXOb/homeschool-your-kids/c/4Txilng47rY
Gathering dozens of kids together is a great way to spread disease. We all know it. That’s why the schools had to be closed in 2020, to avoid spreading disease to the parents and rest of the community.
Even if students can theoretically go to the bathroom whenever they need, there is tacit pressure to hold it through lessons, etc. Sitting for most of the day isn’t great, even if you don’t need to go the bathroom.
Chewing gum has been found to increase blood flow to the brain. Ban it! https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2023/09/how_chewing_gum_became_less_cool_but_healthier.html
While schools may not strictly require vaccines, they strongly coerce the parents to get their child shot.
And I didn’t even cover all the new gay stuff.
The language "Strongly coerce" is a bit soft methinks.
