I know, take a video with a terrible sound track to begin with, then overlay it with crappy "music" for DRAMATIC EFFECT!!... or something... and then put it out there for people to watch... and if they're lucky, listen to.
It's an unconscious thing that folks do when posting videos, their entire lives have been spent with music in the background... malls, small businesses, restaurants, doctor's offices, etc.... that they cannot IMAGINE a video that just presents itself without music of some sort.
I think it points to the vapidness of our culture. People are so terrified of being alone with their own thoughts or of having to endure an actual 'conversation,' that they prefer to surround themselves with constant stimulation of "music" or a TV in the background, drowning out their thoughts.
It's easier to hum along with ABBA or "Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog" than to ponder and delve into one's innermost thoughts.
