Amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East, over 12,000 personnel from the US Navy and Marine Corps aboard ten warships have either reached or are en route to the Eastern Mediterranean, as reported by Nikkei Asia, citing data from the US Navy.

As an xsquid, "troops" is a misleading word- sailors crew the ships and yes carriers have 4-5 thousand sailors aviators and Marine units on board-the other ships are also crewed by sailors and the LPHs and such have large Marine contingents with harriers and choppers.
