I believe he was forced to take his own life on a specific date or face disgrace by revelations that he did very bad things. I posted elsewhere why this makes sense (the hot tub photo and the cranberries thing, thanks to other anons as always for putting the info out). The doing bad things also fits with the painkiller addiction he went thru - surely most would find it a burden to be so evil..
