I think it's more Elon is eccentric... not a serious philosopher. He likes free speech, but he also wants a one world government.... not because he has thought long and hard about it, but because they have one on Star Trek and it seems kinda cool.
Star Trek is not a one world government. It's a post scarce society that encourages development and growth based on aptitude, personal hobbies and interests. They don't have "money" because they've learned the ultimate currency is time... Okay they didn't figure it out when the show aired, but that is essentially what our economy needs to be based on: our time. If we use a fiat system or cedit system or whatever, what matters is that our time is properly valued for what little we give up working for others.
