i will have to disagree because "they" do want us dead. it is only because of God that we are still here. God says when and where, not Satan and his minions. Satan can only take your life if God says it's time.
i truly believe that God has control over when we live and when we die, not sure why that would disturb you? He gives us free will to chose whatever lives we live, but in the end He and only He decides when we go to our eternal resting place. even people who commit suicide or at least try to commit suicide, there have been times that it didn't work, why would that be???? divine intervention maybe?
have you ever read the book of Job? God told satan he could do whatever to Job except take Job's life and that tells me that God has sole power over what the devil can and can't do. and Jesus will prove that power when He comes back and takes satan and his minions down.
that is why we are to be ready because we don't know when our time here is over. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is our Savior.

You don’t need to tell me stories about Yahweh and how he is. But that is not my God. My God does not judge, does not make people or animals suffer. He only created the mechanism for cause and effect. God eternal Creator of all things is not some maniac.
