Every time this happens, the SOTH number incriments by one on this list. But if you click on their names you will see the other counting system that only increments when a new individual takes the office. By that counting system, Mike Johnson is exactly number 56. You can even see that listed on his official wikipedia page.
So the 56 number from that press release is nothing unusual. However the 45 number that Scalise used remains entirely interdasting.
