she didn't win, so why didn't they investigate her? Probably because some Republicans told them to forget about it as well.

I think a more likely explanation is Byrne is telling the truth. You think at the height of the Mueller investigation, Trump wouldn't come out with this both barrels blazing? Seems unlikely to me.
