If you're taking a kid you are better off going to Windsor. You can travel into London via train quite easily for anything you want without any train changes to a major station (Waterloo). In Windsor you get Legoland, Windsor Great Park and the Castle, and there is a roller coaster park (Thorpe Park) further south in Surrey.
Not a Londoner but Oh man do I ever feel sorry for you. Maybe counter w/the notion you're game for any destination of the 50 United States and she can choose the spot? Not that it would necessarily be any safer but there's so much to see and do in the U.S. why even bother with London?
I'm removing this post because it's off topic and sort of asking people to area-doxx themselves.
If you want to ask for traveling advice in the General Chat sticky, that would be ok.
OK no problem.

This does sound good, we might still be going although we are looking into alternatives (thank god). Anyway, thanks!
Don't bother with London, its only good for its Museums and Galleries. And just for a weekend? Forget it.
My thoughts exactly. And those prices. Right.

I'd love to visit the US but it's not in the region we will visit. Thanks.
