But it would be a plausible explaination for anyone who had instead planted explosive charges at strategic places that would assure structural failure at points which would cause water to spill over and into adjacent chambers like it ultimately did. The ship remained undiscovered at the bottom for 74 years - plenty of time for nature to eat away at and cover up those bow sections which were found plowed deeply into the sea floor. Would never be able to acsertain whether explosive evidence found was not caused by a boiler rather than TNT - no residue evidence capable of being retrieved.
