there are several valid definitions of satanism, but they all revolve around the same idea.
some satanists worship satan, but others knowingly use satan as a symbol for science and the ego. it is all the same thing... materialism. the worship of the gross at the expense of the subtle.
it is being confined to the laws of this universe, instead of God's law of miracles. could also make the matrix comparison. some rules can be bent, others can be broken.
You can see this meaning revealed very clearly in the devil tarot card.... a man and a woman sit at the feet of the devil, where they are chained to the ground beneath them. chained to the physical world.
you can still enjoy science without being a satanist. I maintain that Ayn Rand is my favourite satanist, because she places all importance on the self, at the complete disregard of God. Not a perspective I share with her exactly, but I consider her exceptionally moral... perhaps the only truly moral atheist philosophy. if more satanists had her particular brand of the mindset, things would be a lot tidier on earth.
Well, most scientists who pushed us forward believed in God. Science and God are not mutually exclusive; you can believe God created all this majesty with all these rules (physics) for us to understand and unravel the mysteries of the universe.
