You know the term is meant to be derogatory.
Yes.
So what is the difference between calling someone a boomer and calling them the N word? Both are bad and shouldn't be allowed here. We are supposed to be a team and words that cause division just lessen us as a group. Do you and solo_verdades think you're better?
Calling someone a n----r is racism. It is an insult ONLY based on race and is correctly widely considered vile.
"Boomer" on the other hand is not just member-of-a-group. It implies a certain rigidity of attitudes and unwillingness (if not inability) at mental limberness, understanding current events properly instead of the TV being right (Walter Cronkite generation) etc.
An example would be when someone observes something about how "many baby boomers act" and one takes it personally and responds with the basest vitriol.
It is a deroritory name based "only" onn age. Its actually called ageism.
Since many (like you) have used it in an insulting way, many are considering members of the group to be (in)correctly "widely considered vile."
You say it implies a "ridgty of attitudes and unwillingness (if not inability) at mental limberness, understanding current events properly instead of the TV being right..."
I would encourage you to compare again the difference. Racism? Ageism? I believe any member either group would consider that the word boomer is just as marginalized as the N word.
Stop classifying and dividing people!
