Apparently, a foreign worker was in China when he inadvertently crossed the road in the wrong place, jaywalking. Within seconds he received a message on his mobile phone. The message told him that his crime had been recognised and he was told what the fine was for breaking the law. He was also informed that the fine had just been removed from his bank account!

So, immigration control, facial recognition, mobile phone and bank account details all under the control of the Chinese government.
