Be careful trying to "redpill" someone with this. It does not hold up to scrutiny.
-ment suffix is used to indicate the plan, intention or frame of mind of doing something.
Government.= Gubernare-mentis = Plan/Intention/Frame of mind of steering = Steering the people.
Consider other Latin words that end with -ment. For example Internment:
Internment = internum-mentis = Plan/intention/frame of mind of confining someone inwards. It DOES NOT mean "confining the mind" as per this logic.
