We have an off grid summer home. The nearest grid power is 1/2 mile away with rough terrain between us. It would cost more to bring in grid power than I paid for the whole place. For $15k I put in a 6000 watt solar system with lithium batteries. I coast through a severely overcast day with the batteries. On typical cloudy days we will still get some charge off the array. On normal days, I don't have to give much thought to power consumption. We only use about 30% of the battery's capacity.
Yes I understand. You don't need to go through the Winter in that place (which becomes really mind-bending). That's good. It is a nice break to get away from it all and experience some nature.
