"would not be covering this otherwise either" - sometimes, when a topic is hard to "contain" or censor fully because it's already out there getting ahead of the narrative is a strategy. Before people make up their minds, they release many articles denouncing it as a conspiracy theory etc so that normies think: "Oh yeah, another right wing conspiracy theory that has been debunked. No need to pay attention. Probably racist."
