Russia offered to end its invasion of Ukraine if it dumped plans to join NATO, but Kyiv feared a double-cross, says negotiator

A Russian delegation during 2022 peace talks told Ukraine to give up NATO ambitions to resolve the conflict, but Kyiv feared it would be double-crossed.

Furthermore, as Russia abandoned its plans to take Kyiv, what they did in Bucha was revealed. They found a mass grave behind a church, they found bodies of people with their hands behind their back executed at short range.

Ah yes, because after all the other attempts to frame Russia for attacks on their own people, clearly that one is the one that has merit! That one is the one they're DEFINITELY not lying about.
