Per Philippine local news and PhilVocs the earthquakes were located off the Northeast coast of the 2nd largest (and one of the southernmost) island in the Philippines - off the coast of Surigao del Sur province. The 7.3 and 6.8 magnitude earthquakes are both off of Surigao del Sur province but at different places. The aftershocks are close by, some are over magnitude 4.

Tsunami warning were sent out and tsunamis were seen but the were small. But there was significant damage from the earthquakes themselves.
