I agree but don't see it happening with today's technology. The one in that picture is Cape Lookout in NC they only turn the lights on a few times a year. I think one reason is it's kinda obsolete with digital GPS on boats. The other reason is a push for dark skies so we can see the stars. I wish more places were darker. I'm in the country but due to security lights I can't see as many stars as I did as a kid. Forget about seeing a mediator shower or something. On a different point I was watching a documentary about the NC outer banks lighthouses. Don't remember which one maybe Cape Hatteras. Said the lighthouse didn't prevent shipwrecks or ships running aground because of the way the NC coast is. No wonder it's called the Graveyard of the Atlantic. Our coast is very treacherous even today if you don't know what you are doing.
