The conservative instinct seems to lean towards preserving the status quo. When I look around at the world today, I really don't see much that's even worth preserving. It's a sad thing to admit after all that our ancestors had to go through to get to this point, but it seems like the modern world we've created ended up being a huge mistake. It's like we've thrown away the essential parts of life in exchange for lots of inessentials.
Families don't work anymore. The whole social structure is uprooted and turned against itself. We're obsessed with competition and selfishness. It's not normal or good imo. At least the collapse offers an opportunity to correct these mistakes
If your eye causes you to sin pluck it out. Look around and ask yourself "How much of this shit do I really need?" You wind up being Amish with a car and internet connection.
