Jack Smith is circumventing the appellate court and going straight to the US Supreme Court for one reason: To seek a conviction before the election.
Via constitutional expert Jonathan Turley:
“Special Counsel Jack Smith is now seeking to leapfrog the appellate court and ask for a ruling from the Supreme Court on Trump’s immunity claims. The only reason for this petition is to seek to guarantee a trial of Trump (and possible conviction) before the election,” Turley said.
I don't see SCOTUS taking the case before the appeals court rules on it. They will remand it to the lower court to decide, and take it if and when it is necessary after a lower ruling.
I would, however, (if I were Trump) open up a new lawsuit for election interference by Smith for trying to interfere with the courts to cause election interference. (He probably shouldn't have scheduled the trial right before Super Tuesday...) That could actually really slow down Jack's case. He seems like his TDS has roasted any brain cells he might have had left in his skull.
Actually all of Trump's trials look like they are going in the same direction thanks to TDS.
Something deep inside me keeps telling me the likes of Smith and the judges need to be investigated (by us, not the 3-letter agencies). Not just their views but personal involvements, taking bribes, children, etc and then brought to light for all to see.
If the Supreme Court rules Trump has presidential immunity, the D.C. case is dropped. If Trump doesn’t have presidential immunity, it doesn’t harm him too much but creates one hell of a precedent for going after former, current and future presidents.

JS and his moves incriminate him with election interference. I see a ruling coming that will allow all past Presidents to face the music.

They definitely have a history they care not to have the people being made aware of.
Why? They're running g out of time.
I refer it to as desperately trying to avoid GITMO.
Maybe he will respond to Congresswoman Luna first …. https://twitter.com/RepLuna/status/1734281423446548795
Outstanding find. I hope you made a thread with this, if not please do. I am responding to my response's and emails and catch up with threads posted.

We have gitmo, why do we need this?
Amen and this is where I suspect this is going. President Trump will be cleared but the real scumbags now are going to face their pasts.
