So first they cut moms and pops in a thriving tourist industry, down, by banning Russia. This is where the rot starts. It will also end there, when they reverse the stupid policy. But the Fins decided they wanted a stupid bimbo in power, so there they are.
Now the government (they had not predicted the economic downturn, honest) go after all the people trying to make ends meet on the benefits, and claiming some housing support - something that is necessary in urban areas especially, because people have to either pay exorbitant rent, or move into the country and suffer long drives through the snow, and high travel/breakdown/injury costs, to work. For the precariat class, i.e., cleaners, teachers, nurses, cafe-workers etc. they cannot afford to work AND live in the city, otherwise.
Of course it is the fault of Socialism, as it drives this sort of disparity by building commie-blocks, and certainly the let-them-drop-off-the-system anti-welfare state has appeal to some. It would get rid of all the riff-raff, right?
However, if one gets rid of entrenched and structural communism rather suddenly, there will be pain. The problem is: Some of the communist drivers were beneficial, like the social housing and heating, and should not be discarded, if the country wants to keep a semblance of an economy.
I predict a Black market, homelessness near the Arctic Circle, overcrowding in barely heated apartments, and much petty crime in the cities.
So next will be a crackdown against homelessness.
Also, many will go and inhabit their Uncle's summer place in the woods, or go live with the Laps in a tent (brrrrr), or leave the country.
And that will further dig holes in the economy. Really. Just kiss and make up already.
