Don't they always hold closed door hearings first? That's where the real questions are asked. The public hearing is for media consumption and allowing members of Congress to bloviate.

Not always, often they go straight to the bloviating! But that's correct in this case. The closed door was where they were going to get into it. But no way could Hunter do that.
