Moving the emissions to a remote location is a benefit, just not the benefit that is touted. EVs were supposed to lead to net zero, but that is far from the truth. And if you change the focus to other types of emissions that are real pollutants, then you have to discuss the serious environmental impacts of both mining and refining the various inputs required to make the batteries, which far exceed the impacts of manufacturing an ICE car. And what of the monetary and environmental costs of building a grid (generating and distribution assets) and charging infrastructure capable of making EVs as convenient as ICE vehicles, assuming you can reduce charging times to tank fill up times?
Nothing is free in this world. EVs are many many decades away from a viable alternative, if ever.
0 LOCAL emission vehicle, is one of the few valid selling points for EVs.
For generations humans have dug down their waste away from where they lived.
The petroleum industry is yet to find a way to combust fossil fuels without creating local emissions that seriously damages our health.
To be able to move those emissions somewhere else from where human lives, is not the “own” you think it is regarding EVs.
I know this comment will be downvoted into oblivion, I don’t care.
It’s impossible to have a decent discussion regarding EVs on this site.
The only truth is calling them a Non Combustion Engine. Even the electric motor has emissions. And some of those arent tested for.

Local emissions are not the problem in most places. At least here in the US.
What do you mean?
There are plenty of places in the US with less than moderate air quality.

The air is way way cleaner than it used to be. I don't see it as a problem, gas cars these days are very clean.
