If Nicola Tesla discovered a way to harness unlimited energy for all humans, and if the mechanisms are small enough, then electric cars are going to be very viable. Maybe Musk has a long range plan. Batteries are the major stumbling block to reliable electric cars. No batteries problem solved.

Hydrogen technology is a good solution.
Yeah, the thing is there are many smaller solutions that would be the way to go. Hydraulic plates that depress slightly when cars roll over them could easily power traffic and street lights. Solar can supliment, but isn't reliable enough to be a major source. Wind is a no-go, biofuels are ok as long as you aren't chopping down trees to make it, etc...
Not a fan of Nuclear, unless they put it on the moon or out in space.
